What to expect?
Read this if you are going to sail in IRELAND or SCOTLAND with us
We will be very honest with you that sailing in Irish or Scotland ocean waters is not the same as relaxing cruising in mediterranean sea :) If It is your first time, please, consider the following:
- Prepare for cold: it can be rainy and very cold, take additional clothes
- Prepare for wind: ocean weather is unpredictable, there could be beautiful sunny calm day followed by extraordinarily windy and foggy weather --> prepare to experience a real stormy sailing adventure
- Seasickness: if you have seasickness, you can feel really bad during the sailing part outside of bays.
- Shower: there will be a shower in the home marina first day, but we can't guarantee a shower every night :) Prepare for camping mode trip!
- Sleep: we sleep on the boat in cabins sleeping bags, 2 people in the cabin. No sheets provided. Again, it's a camping mode weekend vacation.
- Food: We usually cook on a boat together or sometimes go to pubs and restaurants. It's 50/50%

General notes
Ireland and Scotland
The best recommendation is to have waterproof and wind-proof clothing, warm fleece and hat, gloves, and high boots. Products of such professional sail clothing companies as Gill, Henry Lloyd, Dubarry, Helly Hansen are perfect, but you can just have the usual outdoor from the city life, hiking, or skiing, assuming that there might be plenty of rain and wind in the sea. It's important to always bring enough layers to stay warm. For a complete list, check out our checklist below.
Summer Sailing
During summer trips, typically, there is not a need for a special waterproof sailing outfit. You'll be fine wearing ordinary shorts and a t-shirt, but always take long-sleeved, light-weight clothing to protect you from the sun and prepare some light clothes to protect you during rainy and windy days if we catch them. You will also need boat shoes with white soles, any sneakers can be useful.

Besides, it's always an option to stay at the hotel or in AirBnB on the shore.

During summer sailing trips (ex. Croatia, Thailand, Turkey, etc.), there is bed linen in the cabins. It usually 2-person comfortable cabins, also people like to sleep outside on the fresh air under starts (very romantic!).

We often use sleeping bags (sometimes duvets are provided), so you will need to bring one with you (some rental companies can offer it for a small fee). Besides, it's always an option to stay at the hotel or in AirBnB on the shore.

- Sleeping bag (available to hire in some places - please ask before the trip)

- Sun tan cream (sun rays are reflected from the water all year round)
- Towel
- Soft bag rather than suit case for storing your clothes
- Sea sickness remedy: pills (like Dramina), patches, or bracelet
- Light, comfortable clothes with long sleeves
- Soft soled non-marking shoes (ideally deck shoes)
- Swimming suite and comfortables summer sandals
- Hat to protect from the sun
- Gloves to work with the sails
- Sunglasses
- Sun tan cream
- Soft bag rather than suit case for storing your kit
- Sea sickness remedy: pills (like Dramina), patches, or bracelet
- Light windproof and waterproof clothes and some warm clothing just in case

When we're cooking with gas or use the electrical heater (while connected to the power on the berth) - it becomes even more warmer to stay inside. You should be prepared for colder conditions and have comfortable, warm clothes for sleeping.

We don't hire a cook for the cruise, but buy all the products in the shops and cook food. We do love to explore the local pubs for traditional drinks and music. Food expenses are not included in the trip price.
All yachts are perfectly comfortable and practical. However, cabins on a boat are compactly designed, and there is not enough room for a big suitcase. We suggest you bring a soft, foldable bag so you can store it in a compact state.
Safety
All sailing yachts have a heavy keel that prevents capsizing by creating stabilizing force when the boat is tilted. We sail only on large sailboats that are highly balanced due to the weight of the keel. More details in the Wiki article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keel
All crew members are vulnerable to sea motion sickness. We can provide you with medical pills, wristbands, and patches to eliminate the factor. But we also ask you to prepare some medicine by yourself if you know that you are likely to have seasickness.
Standard medical kit is the board for a wide range of situations.

All boats are equipped with lifejackets, harnesses, flares, radio VHF, and an emergency life raft.
