BALTIMORE

Adventure weekend sailing experience

About the Baltimore sailing direction

Sailing locations: Roaringwater Bay, Long Island, Baltimore Bay, Fastnet Rock Lighthouse, Bere Island, Bantry Bay, Glengarriff harbour, Cape Clear Island, Schull and Crookhaven, Sherkin Island, Skellig Michael.

Baltimore is a sheltered harbour and a favourite spot for many Irish sailors and foreign cruising boats. Baltimore pier near the Castle is a start and finish point of our journey. The route for each individual trip is determined by the weather conditions and crew experience just before the trip.

Within Roaringwater Bay, Long Island and Baltimore Bay there are numerous places to sail to. The famous Fastnet Rock Lighthouse is 14 miles out from Baltimore (it's a milestone in a well-known Rolex Fastnet race). Cape Clear Island with a lovely small harbour is the most southerly island off Ireland. Schull and Crookhaven are within in easy reach for the cruising person. Sherkin Island across the bay from Baltimore has a fine pier and a pontoon, belonging to the Island's hotel. For smaller boats there are many islands some uninhabited which have beautiful coves and some sandy beaches to day sail to.
3 nights and 3 days
We check-in on the boat on Friday/Thursday evening around 8 pm* in Baltimore port and spend a first night there. We leave the berth next morning and come back to the Baltimore port to check-out on Sunday/Monday evening about 6 pm.
*We need to leave Dublin at 3 pm, because the way Baltimore might take 4-5 hours
All levels of experience
We sail near the coast without strong ocean wind and waves. You can join the trip with no sailing experience. Our captain will teach you basic sailing skills or you can choose just to relax and enjoy the trip.
~€350* per person
Approximate price for three nights and three days trip on sailing boat with a professional skipper. Additional prices like food and transfer are not included (detailed price later on the page).
* This maybe be corrected upwards in the high-season rates or downwards when the boat is fully occupied
Up to 8 hours sailing per day
Baltimore trip is an intensive sailing experience. We leave the marina early morning at 8 am to spend a full day in the sea, but will come to stop in some bay for lunch. We are usually back for the night stop before the sunset. With average speed 4-6 nautical miles per hour we complete 20-40 nautical miles per day. We want our team to feel the ocean breeze and swell, but not be tired of it.
